Sexually transmitted infections are common among young people between 15-24 years old. It is important for young Canadians to avoid risky sexual practices to stay healthy.
HPV Global Action is proud to be collaborating with McGill University on the evaluation project titled “Evaluating HPV Global Action’s Healthy Relationships_101 Presentation.”
The purpose of this research is to assess the impact and effectiveness of our educational programming, with the goal of fostering positive outcomes among youth. Specifically, the study aims to:
Understand the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours of students aged 14+ regarding sexual health and HPV vaccination
Evaluate their perceptions of the LGBTQ+ community
Assess their awareness of STIs/STDs, including HPV and HIV/AIDS
Measure the impact of the Healthy Relationships_101 presentation on students’ sexual health knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours
The insights gathered from this project will directly inform and enhance our educational content, ensuring that it continues to be relevant, inclusive, and impactful for young audiences.
HPV Global Action’s flagship education program is a presentation called Healthy Relationships_101. To understand the impact of this presentation on students’ knowledge, attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors regarding sexual health and relationships, we are invite students to participate in a research evaluation project. In this project, students will be asked to complete two short surveys that measure their knowledge, attitudes and behaviors about sexual health topics, before and after the presentation.
Our Healthy Relationships 101 Presentation is delivered to grade 9-12 students by Teresa Norris, a seasoned sexual health expert with over 20 years of experience in advocacy and education. This presentation is proudly supported by the Immunization Partnership Fund of the Public Health Agency of Canada from 2024 to 2026. With a reach of over 100,000 students across Canada, our presentations continue to make a meaningful impact on sexual health education and students’ experiences.
