BE IN CONTROL WEB-BASED CONTRACEPTION APPLICATION

In 2016, the Urban Institute reported that only 31% of women knew about effective birth control methods, such as intrauterine devices (IUDs) and implants. To combat this issue, we launched BeInControlSite.ca, a web-based application where individuals aged 16-35 can take charge of their reproductive health by selecting various concerns around birth control and see which solutions feel like the best fit. Visitors can also test their knowledge of birth control options. This tool collects data about individuals’ knowledge and needs around contraception. This data will allow us to fine-tune our methods for discussing contraception with the general public to ensure that it is in line with what people need to know and want to learn.
